In accordance with the provisions of the Localism Act 2011, the Town Council adopted a new Code of Conduct at a meeting of the council held on 26 June 2012. The Code sets out the expected behaviour of Councillors, updated at a full council meeting held on 18 September 2012 to take into account publication of further regulations by the Secretary of State for the Department for Communities and Local Government.
The Town Council Code of Conduct can be viewed at the following link: Code of Conduct 2012. Links to Councillors Registers of Interests are below.
The Standards Committee of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council is responsible for receiving and dealing with complaints about individual Councillors. Following the Localism Act 2011 the requirement for the higher authority to have a Standards Committee was removed but there is still a responsibility to receive and determine complaints. Rather than delegating the decision to officers, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council has chosen to retain a Standards Committee.
Anyone wishing to make a complaint should write to Mathew Buckley, Monitoring Officer, County Hall, Beverley, HU17 9BA or email standards@eastriding.gov.uk and arrangements will then be made to put the complaint before the Standards Committee for consideration.
